Sylvia Rath
Educational Director

Sylvia joined as our director in 1999 after teaching preschool children for eight years. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Early Child Development from Antioch University. Sylvia started working as a volunteer in her son’s preschool and fully appreciates the love, commitment and time that it takes to work with a co-op community.

Lee Kaplan

Lee has taught at Little Village for over thirty years and holds a B.A. in Psychology.  His two daughters (now grown) are alumni. Lee is known for his remarkable intuition and uncanny ability to ease a child’s separation anxiety.

Nancy Nicho-Leal

Nancy began teaching at Little Village more than 30 years ago. She holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Antioch University. She is also a certified California Mentor Teacher.  Nancy works with our oldest children and has helped hundreds of children confidently and successfully transition from preschool to kindergarten.

Rosslyn Amoah

Rosslyn has been at Little Village for over 14 years. She holds an AA in Liberal Arts with 35+ units in ECE from Santa Monica College, a BA with a Concentration in Child Studies from Antioch University, and is a certified California Mentor Teacher. She was born and raised in Southern California by an Ethiopian-born mother and Ghanian-born father. She is proud of her African roots, culture and language and loves to expose that to the children.

Stephanie Gonzalez

Stephanie is earning her A.A. degree at Santa Monica College in Early Child Development. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish fluently. Stephanie enjoys exploring the world of art and storytelling with our children when she is not spending time with her own daughter Emma.

Belem Gomez

Belem studied early childhood education at Santa Monica College. She works with the school’s oldest children and is also the kindergarten facilitator.  Fluent in Spanish, she loves exposing the children to Spanish through stories, songs and play.

Jasmine Lopez

Jasmine is earning her A.A. degree at Santa Monica College in Early Child Development. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish fluently. Her hands on teaching style shows how playful and caring she is with the children.
